Good managers start and build great companies, big and small. These companies create jobs, and a route out of poverty into prosperity for millions. They create dignity. They are absolutely critical for underpinning vibrant communities.
Africa has huge potential, with a young and growing workforce, impressive economic growth and improving education levels. Our research shows about 11 million people are currently in supervisory roles in Africa’s formal economies. Yet only a fraction of them are able to access the support and training they need to succeed. The problem is particularly acute among small and medium sized businesses, which often cannot afford existing training business schools and consultants.
AMI has developed a unique approach to addressing Africa’s management gap.
We empower African managers and entrepreneurs through practical, affordable and locally relevant learning and development tools.
We leverage technology to drive down the cost of learning and development. We make learning fun, useful and relevant by create online and offline communities of managers committed to improved performance and responsibility. We ensure learning is directly applied in the workplace not shelved and forgotten, with a laser-sharp focus on performance and results.
AMI’s unique approach combines personalised learning journeys, lively online and offline communities and practical online courses from Africa’s top business schools – South Africa’s Gordon Institute of Business Science, Kenya’s Strathmore Business School and Nigeria’s Lagos Business School. We have also developed an innovative accountability system to help managers APPLY what they learn on the job with the support of their peers.
All this is delivered on an easy-to-use web and mobile platform, with optional offline workshops that bring learning to life.
AMI is already reaching thousands of individual managers and entrepreneurs both online and through our offline Learning Labs (pictured here). And we have started to work directly with businesses to strengthen their teams and drive performance.
We’re already seeing results among individuals and organisations, from solo entrepreneurs to established companies. Kenyan entrepreneur Mark N’ganga told us he tripled revenue at his early-stage web development company after taking one of our courses and implementing the lessons he learned. Now he’s employing others and starting to take his business to the next level.
